Whatsapp gets updated UI for iOS 7

Whatsapp is one of the most popular and commonly found apps on smartphones these days because of its concept of replacing traditional messaging services with a fun of additional sharing and grouping features. Whatsapp Inc. has also been known for not changing their UI according to the changes of an OS UI or graphics. But it looks like they have made an exception for the first time for Apple iOS 7.

As expected, the new UI draws inspiration from the minimalist interface of iOS 7 along with the heavy use of white as background, flatter icons and bubbles as chat icon instead of a square.
The update brings some features and tweaks along with the new UI.
  • It has now larger thumbnails.
  • The location share has been improved to include 3D Maps view, hide places and search places.
  • All your broadcasts are now arranged under Broadcast Lists whose icon is present right under Edit button (as can be seen below).
  • Users can now crop the photos before sending them.
  • The user interface for managing blocked contacts has been improved.
  • Whatsapp will now use the text size you configure in device settings (Settings -> General -> Text Size).
  • New notification alerts and sounds

As anyone can notice, the changes in the update are far from groundbreaking and instead developers at Whatsapp Inc. are just trying to follow the new application developement guidelines laid down by Apple for iOS 7 developers.
