Samsung's Galaxy Note series has a nostalgia attached to it. Even though its unconventional size was considered a road-block in the starting but we all know how much it has appealed to the consumers world wide bringing stylus pens back from grave. Recently, S-Pen stepped into the 10" tablet category with Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and now an 8" tablet rocking the S-Pen seemed like the logical step. A while back, the GT-N5100 moniker appeared in the benchmark database and we knew Samsung is taking the logical step.
Quite recently, after the GPU GLBenchmarks results of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 leaked and confirmed the presence of the device, Samsung's Head of Mobile Communication, JK Shin, himself confirmed that such a device is in the pipeline. While the specifications started becoming clear, looks were still a topic of debate. But now, french website, FrAndroid was able to get hands on some shots of the purported Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 clearing quite much of a hazy picture.
The S-Pen equipped slate is supposed to be powered by Exynos 4412 chipset consisting of a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. It will have a 1280X800 resolution screen, 16/32GB internal memory with micro SD card slot, 4600 mAh battery and the regular set of connectivity options. With the right price, it is supposed to compete with Apple iPad Mini.
Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC) is supposed to be the launch stage for this device. So, lets wait and watch if Samsung can stand up to the expectations this leaks have been mounting for quite some time now.
